The first ricepan-Hindu
Annaprashana is the first solid food. The dish is almost always rice, cooked plain or as a sweet, and it is given by hand rather than fed. Under its regional names — Mukhe Bhaat, Choroonu, Pehli Roti — it is the same rite: the household deciding the child is ready to eat what everyone else eats.
